There are two items that need to be cleared periodically to help protect your privacy concerning websites (such as this one) that you've been visiting. They are:

  • URL history (the website addresses that you type in; e.g., www.google.com)
  • Browser cache (your browser's collection of pages that you've visited that are stored on your hard drive)

Choose your browser from below:

You can determine which browser you are using by going to the top menu and clicking on Help-> About.

If you are using a browser other than those listed above, please e-mail webmaster for further assistance.

Internet Explorer 5 and 6

Clearing the cache

  • Close all other programs, and open Internet Explorer.
    Click on the "Tools" menu, and select "Internet Options".
    On the "Internet Properties" page, under the heading "Temporary Internet Files" click the button that says "Delete Files".
    You will see a pop-up window. In this window, put a tick in the box that says "Delete all offline content", then click the "OK" button.
  • Click the "OK" button again.

Clearing the history

  • Close all other programs, and open Internet Explorer.
    Click on the "Tools" menu, and select "Internet Options".
    Further down this screen, you will see a section entitled "History". In this section, you need to click the button that says "Clear History". This will bring up a confirmation window.
    Click "Yes" to delete the history files.
  • Click the "OK" button again.

Netscape 8

Clearing the cache and history

  • Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Options."
  • Click on the "Privacy" icon (the padlock).
  • Click the "Clear All" button at the top of the panel. This clears history, cache, cookies, etc. all at one time.

For cache and history, choose Tools->Options from the menu at the top.

Clearing the cache

  • Click the "Privacy" icon (the padlock).
  • Click "Clear" across from "Cache" (the last option).

Clearing the history

  • Click the "Privacy" icon (the padlock).
  • Click "Clear" across from "History" (the first option).

Note: like Netscape, "Clear All" at the bottom of the "Privacy" panel can be chose, but this clears stored passwords and saved form information as well.
